Biography
Aleksandar Poleksic received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the Florida State University, M.S. in mathematics from the University of Belgrade, and B.S. in mathematics from the University of Montenegro, Yugoslavia. Prof. Poleksic research focuses on understanding the mathematical and statistical laws that underpin biochemical processes in the context of a large biochemical network. With extensive experience in the biotech industry, Prof. Poleksic has led projects that build upon the techniques from digital signal processing to predict interactions between biochemical entities from sparse, noisy and biased data. Prior to coming to UNI, Prof. Poleksic was a Senior Scientist at Eidogen, Inc., where he was instrumental in the development of a novel informatics platform for rational drug discovery. Prior to that, he was at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, where he worked on developing novel algorithms for protein sequence analysis.
